Can I start a business and use my Middle Name as My Legal Business Name?

Im not trying to have a hidden identity or anything, but I hate it when people mispronounce my first name. Its been happening for years. I want to use my middle name as my first name, when I conduct business. I want to be known by my Middle Name in the business world. I want to sign business contracts using my middle name as my first name and my real last name as my last name. Is this possible? How can I make it official?

Ex: If my name was, Harold John Fitz (Not really my Name)

and I wanted to be referred to as John Fitz in the biz world and sign biz contracts as John Fitz, Coud I do that…

If I posted this in the wrong category, please let me know where I should post it.

You will simply be doing business as (DBA) "Your middle name" Just register the name of the business as your middle name with your state. You can then open a business account and have check written out to the business but you’ll sign for them as you normally do.

    Good Luck

Unless you legally changed your name to your first name, any official contracts have to be signed with your real name.

It’s generally not accepted to change your name, or the order of your name; however, if you went by H. John Fitz (known as John), that would be acceptable.
